Over the course of the upcoming winter, I'll be deep into the restoration of two or three MGs. This will include major sheet metal/structural restoration, at least one major engine overhaul, and some sheet metal work on at least one "foreign" car (Porsche 356). I'm contemplating hosting one open house/tech session per month, probably on Sunday afternoons, from November thru April. Strong tolerance for Industrial Strength Do-Wop music, and micro-brew beers is "mandatory". My goal is to have two Midgets fully ready to drive to Lake of the Ozarks, in June '08, for the Sprite 50th Anniversary Celebration. Therefore, the tech sessions/open house will feature everything from panel replacement to hydraulic systems rebuilds to suspension overhauls to engine rebuilds to painting to tune-ups, and most things in between. I'm located in rural Washington county, about 10 miles west of Bridgeville. Let me know if you're interested, so that I can (officially) clear it with the Spousal Unit, and have something ready for the planning meeting, in November.

Bud, this sounds like a brave venture. I for one would be interested in taking part, and Sunday afternoons would be fine with me. The music, though...

Bob, I suspect we'd have a pretty good turn-out. It would also provide a good incentive for me to keep plugging away on some projects! Re: the music. I listen to two programs on WJPA (Washington, PA), which are broadcast ONLY on Sunday afternoon and evening. Some of the music is just plain awful....... but, the rest of it is pretty easy to listen to. At any rate, I don't keep the volume turned up very loud..........................Besides, after a few good beers, you won't even notice

Good! Looking forward to meeting you. By the time the November meeting rolls around, I should have a pretty good idea of when the first one will be held. Basically, I hope to be able to show/demonstrate something new and useful to attendees each month, and we can spend some time on Q&A, bench racing and telling tall tales (accompanied by beer drinking). There probably won't be a lot of hands-on stuff (at least I can't think of anything, now), although I suppose I could help someone get started in learning how to weld. Also, I hope to have my blast cabinet moved into my workshop, from my old garage, so that would be available if you need to use it. I'm also open to suggestions for topics pertaining to attendees immediate MG needs.

Bud: I'll be at Bud Joyner's this Saturday, 10/27, rebuilding my Midget's carburetors. Sunday's at your place sounds great. I can stand any music that accompanies wrenching or tin bending,(except hip-hop). I "learned" arc welding, but need to practice mig welding. As far as "topics", I find that helping others on their projects is a good way to learn. Paul

Bud, Why not add your "on the job training" tech session information on the last minute activities section of this forum? I know that there are always last minute changes when things come up, and you just can't make it into the garage when planned. That way, if you have something planned for a Sunday afternoon of wrenching, you can list it on the forum, and then at the last minute, say on Saturday, confirm that you'll still be there, or that something came up, and you will need to postpone. That is, unless you're using the fact that people will be showing up at your garage as the motivation for not putting off work on the cars! These informal sessions are a great help. Don

Sounds like a plan ... I just need enough lead time as I work on Saturdays ... how long will sessions last. In November I picked up a 80 MGB LE 38K any hints on how to keep it running over the winter months dont want to wear the battery down starting and let it run, if streets are dry mya go arround the neighborhood. Soon as I can I will be some pictures in for the site.
