I have a 1971 MG Midget. I can get it to run if I spray gasoline in the carburetors. When I stop the engine stops. I'm thinking carbs are plugged. Had them appart cleaned out blew compressed air through the ports, no differnence. I truing to decide to rebuild carbs or buy Weber carb kit and replace. Advice anyone?

Once again, no one knew of your request for help in time to actually help you. It sounds (from your post) like you were/are about to make a serious mistake and replace the original SU carbs with that STUPID Fiat carburetor (Weber). I wish I had known of your need for help at the time you requested it. Sadly, we have no way of being alerted when someone requests help. The Triumph club (WPTA) gets word out, almost INSTANTLY, when a member needs help. Anyway, if you haven't yet replaced the SUs, I will be happy to help you. They're childishly simple and easy to work on. Once they are reconditioned and properly set-up (again, childishly simple), they need only routine lubrication of throttle linkages and oil level in dampers kept up. That's IT. They DO NOT need any adjustments or "fiddling", contrary to popular myth. Also, they WORK much better than that silly Weber ever can work.
